Growing Pains

I was talking to a friend of mine and the topic of discussion fell on age. And we came to the conclusion that with age comes pain, and there's nothing that we can really do about it (so bring on the pain I guess).

No connection, but why is it that the most "insecure" people are the first to share their life stories and the people who consider themselves secure are the ones who don't share anything? Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just an observation. Why are the people who we consider the ones with some screws loose the ones who are the most visible and the most audible. And why are those same people who have those screws loose the ones that hold, say, public offices.

Is it that the people with the most sense desire not to be a part of the circus of publicity? Take for instance politics (you just knew I was going to go there didn't you). Why is it that the people with the most extreme views are the ones that make it into the public arena. I think we as American people have a lust for the WWF mentality. The person who is the most flamboyant and the most over-the-top is the person that we want to see elected. Maybe not, but it sure seems that way.
